Caribe Tour Xtreme.
If you go to Cartagena, and wish to do the Rosario islands I have one immediate recommendation DO NOT do it with Caribe Tour Extreme. Its located in Bocagrande, 8 St.
We payed around $700 CAD for two tours for five people. First day was amazing, the places we visited like the mud volcano and the pink sea were beautiful and neat, but the mud volcano is full of hidden expenses that you really don’t need to pay. Like the girls washing the mud off of you and the guys taking care of your sandals.
For the next day, we were doing Rosario Islands and we were pump! We were promised a pick up at 8 am, which was an hour late. We then shuttled around picking up people and where then dropped off and began boarding a ship with an limit of 18 people and 2 staff to operate . We were also promised only 15 people. They over occupied the boat by 3 people. Also promised a breakfast that by this time we figured we were not getting any. We then began our journey to the islands. We travelled at sea for an hour or so with nice music and enjoying the Caribbean, then we snorkel for around 30 minutes. The sea was amazingly clear and the fish living under the sea was really pretty.
Piled in the boat again and raced off to the next local which was a party island “Cholón” where we ate lunch didn’t receive a welcome cocktail but a ceviche cup instead, and burnt an hour until we left to another beach called Playa tranquila where we played in see weed water for an hour. We then got on the boat and smashed some insane waves for around 30 minutes give or take. Not gonna like this part was insane!
Then arrived at Baru and waited for 2.5 hours until they briefed us on phosphorescent sea plankton. And a snack, not my favourite hot dog I might say wasnt even cooked.
We payed more to have a group exclusively of 15 people and ended up with 18. We didnt receive cocktails. We where told by paying for the premier tour we would receive kayaking, our guide had no idea about kayaking. Now I sit here in a hostel on baru beach perturbed as to why the Caribe tour extreme would lie to us. And about so much of the tour. All in all we could have done this ourselves. I do not recommend going with this group what so ever and looking elsewhere or doing it yourself. My dads opinion is to goto baru. And save your money it’s a scam. To be lied to about so many things in one day. On top of being scammed by our guide 2 days earlier from a different company. I have unfortunately nothing good to say about the tourism in Cartagena other than do it yourself you’ll enjoy it more and pay less in the end.
The tour we did the day before this one was the pink sea, a shitty beach for lunch and the mud volcano. It was good other than 15 minutes at the sea pink. 10 min in the volcano with hidden fees all over the place for everything. And the beach we had lunch at was the worst food I’ve had in Colombia. Chicken wasnt awesome but melissa fish really good.
I love Cartagena, I love it so much this place has to offer one thing I dont love is the rape and pillage mentality of the employees and companies there. For that reason never use Caribe Tour Extreme, and tour yourself.
