DOÑA LOLA

Comida del Caribe, en Cartagena Colombia.
Located in Getsemani, really close to where we where staying, just a ten minute walk from the city center.
The moment you step in you are filled with eclectic charm, all being played with along a theme of black of white. The service was quick the choices broad, the price was great considering what you got and where in Cartagena, is the restaurant located.

My grandpa ordered “Cartagena’s Shrimp Cocktail ($27K COP)

I got “Daily Fish Catch with Lola’s Twist” ($46K COP) a fish how the chef felt.

Melissa got “Grilled Octopus” (42K COP)

My grandmother got the “Pan seared Chicken with Lemongrass” (30K COP).

All different and reasonable prices service was rapid, but before all this delicious food, we where brought a palate cleanser. It was a mix of tomato, pepper, vinegar and olive oil in a shot glass, preparing us for the mains about to come.

My fish arrived in a very timely manner, a white fish alongside risotto it was delicate and the chef let the fish speak for itself. Being by he coast, my lovely Melissa had gotten a delicious octopus, with creamy potatoes. It was really well cooked as it wasn’t chewy and full of flavor. My grandmother’s best meal in Cartagena, she had a chicken breast on lemon grass skewers, with veggies and fried rice, also some kind of gravy on the side. My papa’s shrimp cocktail was a small shrimp all in a spicy tomato base sauce it wasn’t overly spicy it was alright . He ate all the lettuce which was garnish as the sauce was so good.

Overall we had a great experience, the food has amazing taste and we will be back for sure for celebrations, or to invite new people in town, as like you know we love staying on budget. But once in awhile and at this restaurant it is all worth it.
