Mezzaluna Italian Restaurant in Oaxaca.
From the moment we entered, we were greeted with a smile. As we entered the restaurant we where asked if we would prefer the ceiling patio, and oh boy was it a treat. They have a wood fire pizza oven and initially that is what intrigued us. As we sat on the patio bedazzled by the 360 views of the Oaxacan city.
Our server asked us for our drink order. We chose a small natural lemonade in a pitcher it was delicious not overly sweet. We both had decided to get pizzas and at 195 pesos each it was not a problem. We started with bread compliments from the restaurant with an ground green olives in olive oil and a spicy tomato sauce. Meli does not like olives but she was all over this sauce for some reason. The service was diligent quick and always ready to help without looming over you.
Once our pizza came it was amazing! The pizza had more toppings and was bigger than any pizza I had ever had in Italy but it was very similar. I ordered the pizza “Con Pollo”, they seasoned it with a spicy tomato sauce not at all that spicy after being cooked and big chunks of chicken alongside peppers. It was big enough Meli and I had a full pizza leftover to go. Meli got the “Campagnola” pizza with portabello mushrooms, oregano-oil rub and tomatoes topped with goat cheese. It was fantastic.
While we dinned the sun sat and improv performers from Oaxaca city came & danced their way by us just downstairs, we got a great view from the patio, we got dinner and a show and the roof top terrace to ourselves.

The whole experience was rather intimate and private. Sitting along the railing watching the passers by. When it was time to leave, we wished we had more room to eat as we loved the comfort staff had offered the jazz music playing as an ambiance and the privacy we had to imagine this as our own private villa retreat. So far if we where to recommend you to see and taste an experience gastronomically miles away from local Oaxacan food, but with an authenticity and passion that resonates an incredible experience, please go. As we left the kitchen staff smiled and waved the dishwashers wished us a good night and we left to wonder the streets we called home for the month.
Atmosphere 5/5
Food 4/5
Service 4/5

I really enjoyed all 4 of the blogs that I read today. We can’t wait to get to Columbia to experience it first hand.
