Hotel Plaza del Sol. Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
Our AirBnB this time was a hotel. We were on the top floor, fourth story of the hotel as were all the other AirBnB guests where.

This time was different, we had air conditioning and attendants who would leave toilet paper for us and clean out our room at our pleasure, although we only had them mop it twice. We had a bed, a TV, a bathroom,a with a mini fridge and a closet with a safe. Which we couldn’t use because it was either out of battery or because Meli may have locked it as soon as we made it into our room . Other than this we had nothing to cook with so we became huge fans of cold cut sandwiches with tortilla chips and salsa.

Included in the accommodations, free of charge was the restless parties of 5th ave ranting and raving. Louder than Oaxaca and usually till 4 am but sometimes well past that. If you put the air conditioner on, it dampens it enough you sometimes forget you are in the party center of Playa del Carmen. This loudness did not seem to affect Meli as she fell asleep as soon as her head touched the pillow.

It’s a spacious place for what we need and also offers a 2nd story patio that you can enjoy the heat of the day from or lounge somewhere other than your room. The staff are always present and guarding the door for intruders. The security is fantastic, and has multiple stages. Your door is locked, the hotel guests are also kept safe by another door that locks with a key code. And the entrance is guarded. We where warned to be safe as always on our travels and told especially in playa but we found nothing other than polite reasonable and happy people.
The cost was 16 dollars CAD a night, cheaper than a hostel for Meli and me while being central plus we get to see tourists and locals alike depending on where we walk to. We are 7 min from the beach, 10 min from groceries and right in the heart of the party. And if you need something on the go, 7/11 is right across from the hotel.
While living in the heart of the action we did encounter the sounds of a mating rituals intensive screaming and moaning, although short lived lasting a maximum of 4 to 5 minutes. We fell back into our sleep. The hotel is attached to a tequila shop, they will always offer you a shot, does not matter how many times you go by, but Meli finally gave it a try for one of our last nights; she tried different types of tequilas with flavored honey, coffee, pistachio and almond, coffee was her favorite but again she is Colombian and she loves coffee. Also right across the road from us was senior frogs which according to Melissa it was a real party place but to me seems like an amusement park for Adults, if that is what you like.

The hotel offered us exactly what we signed up for. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere always on fire and our room always cold for Meli and me. We wouldn’t want it any other way.
