15 – Visit The Antique Museum
It is a small museum completely free to enter and absolutely fantastic. Full of relics from a days long ago filled with charm and comfort. The owner and operator also has a small antique shop just as riveting and beautiful as has museum. It is a gem in a place teeming with culture and history.
14 – Restaurante La Esquinita
I have never been so welcome in a resturuant and also felt like your with family. This resturuant offers you local cuisine always changing with resterantiers you can call family. They are warming, welcome and most of amazing portions with an abundance of flavours at a low cost. You will be full after being hosted at la Esquinita
13 – Textile Museum
The museum is filled with artifacts, clothing all hand made and feeling very wearable today. Meli disagrees with me here. Either way the museum provides a very personal feel as it is usually quite. And you have intimate time and space with the works to feel as thought you can start to see yourself wearing it. It’s cheap to enter as well.
12 – City Botanical Garden
If you are a botanist or enjoy the serene setting of a garden this os for you a beautifully orchestrated collection of plants indigenous to the Oaxacan state. Offering you a zen like escape as you meander through its paths enjoying the display of plants thriving in what can be a very harsh and extreme climate at times. Again this wonderful space is yours for your pleasure at around 75 pesos.
11 – Cultural Museum
This is 75 pesos and worth every penny of your hard earned cash. This exhibit is beside the church of *() & offers an exquisite collection of archeological finds from places such as monte Alban and antiques from the colonial invasion. As well artifacts from the dominant powers that be at that time the church. All of this is held in what once was the refectory. Or where the nuns and or priests lived and worked. So much to see and you could go multiple times if this is interesting to you.



10 – Museum of Photography
Its beautifully orchestrated and during our 26 day visit the collection changed twice. This venue is by donation. And up to you how long you spend and how much you donate. The museum has much to see and is spaced out and placed withing the museum very well telling a story as you proceed. This is a great opportunity it to see through the eyes of the Oaxacan artists.
9 – Museum of contemporary Art, and museum of Oaxacan artist.
This is a breathtaking experience forms tart to finish if you attend in a Sunday it’s free. Any other day its 75 pesos each. This activity involves hours of entertainement for the art lovers. These facilities are jam packed floor to ceiling with art and magnificent collections from oaxacan and foreign artists. A must see if in Oaxaca city.
8 – Plaza de la Danza
This is the place to be to mix and mingle with locals. We went and witnessed free concerts, played soccer, seen mass and seen plant of locals engage in activities alone or with their families. If you wish to be here you will find something that interests you.
7 – Walk colonial streets Jalatlaco
These streets and are of town is absolutely beautiful and radiating with color. If Meli and I could do it again we would stay in this area. Its colonial streets are inspiring. The sights and sounds of Oaxaca fueled by proud owners of the buildings. This is an incredible place to house shop for your future Oaxacan get away home.


6 – Hike Nicolas Capernico trail loop.
This hike is 2.2km long an easy hike and should definitely be in everyone’s mind when coming to Oaxaca.. why because it is so easily accessible to everyone no matter where your staying in Oaxaca. AMD upon arriving at the pek which has many ways to get to you have this feeling of triumph and also an amazing view of oaxaca !
5 – Pedestrian only streets
The hustle and bustle idle filled with everything a person could want while walking the pedestrian streets. Food, art , Vendors songs parades tourists and locals alike. The streets are packed everyday and sounding the call to go witness them in their energetic glory.

4 – A cheap Guided tour
We took two tours amassing to 25 cad per tour and a full day of excursion. The guide not the drivers where very informative other than when you needed to pay but the people you meet and the things you see are priceless. This is the most expensive thing on the list, and one we highly recommend so you get more out of your trip.
3 – Tyllatudas in the street
Not only an amazing experience overall sitting in the streets eating food amongst locals, but some of the best food we have ever had for one of the cheapest prices we have ecmver paid. Not only was it cheap but it was enormous. We where bloated and full from real food. Feeling like a local ready for a siesta in the mid day heat after lunch. Which we also reccomend. 2 – Go to the Observatory
If you followed our advice and you went atom the mountain or hill that Mark’s the vmcenter of Oaxaca you probably seen it at one point or another, up close or from afar. Either way the individuals that run this are beyond friendly and very welcoming and their most nights that you can see the stars, the moon and Saturn and Jupiter. They are great people with a free function for travellers like you and I to appreciate something beautiful

1 – Zócalo
This is obvious and a must. This can not be missed the atmosphere the environment and the people with the smells of food typically something being celebrated and in the fashion of Oaxaca. This is an absolute thriller.
